Nicky Henderson’s pair, Apple’s Shakira and We Have A Dream are set to lock horns in a mouth-watering clash tomorrow to kick-start the Aintree three day festival in Merseyside.
The pair are among ten declarations for the Grade 1 Doom Bar Anniversary Juvenile Hurdle tomorrow afternoon.
Apple’s Shakira will be looking for redemption after his bubble was burst at the Cheltenham Festival. The hot-favourite was far too keen during the race and that is what jeopardised her chances. She could only manage to finish fourth and the 4-year-old will be fitted with a hood for the first time come flag fall.
Shakira’s stable-mate, We Have A dream, will be looking to make it 5 from 5 in Britain, with strong form claims.
Henderson’s charge looks set to be sent off as the favourite in tomorrow’s race. He was also a well-backed favourite for the triumph at Cheltenham last month before being stung with a late setback and was forced to miss the meet.
The Henderson pair will be eager to put things right tomorrow, with some tasty prize money at stake in the Grade 1 heavy-weight clash.
With the weather expected to be rainy, the ground could prove to be challenging for the majority of the horses participating but hopefully, the rain stays away so we can enjoy some fantastic racing.
