As the flat season is back in full swing, jockey Ryan Moore faces a tough decision to make in the coming weeks.
He is scheduled to ride at Newmarket in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas on May the 5th, saddling the hot favourite Saxon Warrior, but could also choose to head to the States to ride the impressive Mendelssohn who won by a mind-blowing 18 lengths in the UAE Derby on Easter weekend.
When speaking to the Racing Post, Moore said:
The Kentucky Derby is a race on my bucket list, but we’ll have to see what happens closer the time.
It’s a difficult situation for Moore and connections, as Saxon Warrior has been tipped to be a horse to watch out for this summer, the 3-year-old was a gusty winner last time out and rallied gamely to win the Group 1 at Doncaster back in October last year.
Or will it be Mendelssohn? A new record track time over in Dubai, the horse blew the field apart and kept stretching away from his rivals on the run-in to the finish line.

However, Moore will be expected to be aboard Saxon Warrior who could potentially be sent to Leopardstown for a Guineas Trial.
Trainer Aidan O’Brien said.
He has put on a lot of condition since last season, and we haven’t ruled out the possibility of running him in the Guineas at Leopardstown in a few weeks, if not he will go straight to Newmarket.
A big decision to make for arguably one of the greatest flat jockeys to ever grace the game, and it will be extremely intriguing to see what happens with Moore and the upcoming rides in some valuable races.
