Jockey Ruby Walsh has targeted a return to action at the Punchestown Festival in late April.
Walsh started his comeback from his four-month injury with a bang at the Cheltenham Festival, notching up a day one double aboard the excellent Footpad and the exciting Benie Des Dieux.
However, Walsh went from ultimate joy to sheer distraught in just twenty four hours. The jockey jumped aboard Al Boum Photo in the RSA Insurance Novices Chase on day two of the festival but took a crashing fall at the second to last jump, which sadly aggravated the old leg injury and forced him to watch the remaining races from the sidelines.

Despite suffering the injury, Walsh seemed in an optimistic mood when speaking to Racing UK earlier on in the week.
I saw my doctor and the diagnosis is that it’s a very similar fracture to my original injury, I am in a air-cushioned boot now, the prognosis could have been a lot worse, I just treat this as another setback. I am determined to be back in that saddle at the Punchestown Festival and end the season on a high note.
Unfortunately for Walsh, Aintree will be too soon for him and he looks set to be watching from the sidelines as part of the ITV racing team.
