# Joseph O’Brien’s set for first 1000 Guineas runner

The Joseph O’Brien-trained Intricately will head to the QIPCO 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday, providing his rookie trainer with a first runner in the race.

The three-year-old was a game short-head winner of the Group One Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh in September under Donnacha O’Brien.

However, the daughter of Fastneck Rock was a bitterly disappointing 11th of 14 runners in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies’ Turf at Santa Anita in November, but is set for the Group One showpiece at Newmarket on Sunday.

O’Brien, proving himself to be an excellent dual-purpose trainer, saw his charge make a pleasing enough return to action when fourth in a 1000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown last month.

That should have blown away the cobwebs and the filly looks to have a live each-way chance in the fillies’ classic if replicating her Moyglare form.

She also steps back up to a mile in the Guineas with seven furlongs arguably an unsatisfactory test for her at Leopardstown. O’Brien [said](https://www.attheraces.com/news/2017/May/03/another-first-for-joseph-o'brien-as-intricately-bids-for-newmarket-classic):

> The filly is in good form and all being well she’ll run at Newmarket, that’s the plan. We were happy with her run in Leopardstown. It was a competitive race, she ran well and we’d be hoping she’ll come on from it. We’re looking forward to Sunday and we’ll see what happens.
