# Senga enters 1000 Guineas picture with Chantilly victory

After Andre Fabre’s Al Wukair earmarked himself as a potential 2000 Guineas contender with a decisive victory at Maisons-Lafitte, Pascal Bary’s Senta entered the billing for the fillies equivalent, the 1000 Guineas, after registering an impresive victory in the Prix de la Grotte at Chantilly.

The three-year-old filly entered the Guineas frame at around the 20/1 mark but has now shortened to around the 10/1 mark after this victory in which she quickened up well under jockey Stephane Pasquier to score by a length as the even money favourite.

La Sardane was second with Lady Frankel, thought to be Senga’s main rival in the one mile Group Three event, a half-length behind in third.

This was an impressive performance from the daughter of Blame, but connections are keen to wait and discuss things before making a decision as to whether to go Newmarket or instead head for the French Guineas.

Alan Cooper, racing manager for Flaxman Stables Ireland Limited, who own the filly, said:

> We are very pleased. She ran very well, quickened up and won very nicely. Stephane Pasquier (jockey) and Pascal Bary are very happy with her.

> She’s entered in the Guineas and she is also in the Pouliches. I think what we would like to do is see how the filly comes out of the race. She is still a little green and we’ve got plenty of time. We’ll make a decision in a couple of weeks.
