Selection 1: Sausalito Sunrise 1:50: Ascot
Philip Hobbs’ charge is only 5lb higher than when scoring at Ascot in February last year and has run with credit off big weights this year including at Cheltenham.
The nine-year-old feel at Haydock last time but in the main, he is a solid jumper and he should have a good chance.
Selection 2: Vintage Clouds 3:15: Haydock
Sue Smith’s charge was running a cracking race when falling three fences from home in the Peter Marsh chase last time and he looks a horse with plenty of scope and potential.
Whilst he has finished second on his three other starts this season, they have come in some decent races and he should enjoy the extended three miles and four furlongs stamina test this Grand National trial will offer.
Selection 3: Head Space 1:45: Lingfield
A horse who invariably needs things to drop right for him but today could well be his day. He has been running well in defeat and with Adam Kirby, this contest looks winnable.
Selection 4: Verne Castle 2:20: Lingfield
An impressive winner at the track last time. He traveled beautifully throughout and was comfortably ahead of his rivals at the line and he looks to hold a great chance of gaining his fifth win from his last six starts.
