Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase favourite Altior has suffered a lame leg ahead of the race and is in huge danger of missing out, according to a report on the Daily Mail.
The horse, which is trained by Nicky Henderson, is the strong favourite to win the Champion Chase but it has been revealed that the horse has developed some lameness in the leg.
Henderson is still not sure whether his star horse will recover in time for the race which is scheduled for Wednesday but is remaining hopeful that a full recovery is made.
Altior was unfortunately lame this morning in his near-fore leg and we have located some pus in the frog (of his foot).
He was still able to exercise in the water treadmill this morning. Both our vet and farrier are working very hard and are more than hopeful that he will even be able to canter on Tuesday and therefore confident he will be clear to race on Wednesday.
Obviously we will monitor the situation and keep everybody up to date with his progress, but there is nothing more to say until tomorrow morning.
Altior is unbeaten in seven starts over fences and the eight-year-old is expected to battle it out with Irish star Douvan on day two of the Cheltenham Festival.
Altior has already missed a majority of the season after having wind surgery but is now in a race against time to recover for the Champion Chase.
