Altior set to run at Newbury

Following reports that Nicky Henderson was considering entering Altior at Newbury, the trainer confirmed the horse is all but set to run this weekend.

The superb Altior is unbeaten in 11 races over fences, and is yet to make his debut this season after having breathing surgery last year.

A quick recovery process seems to have left Henderson in awe, and has prompted the trainer to give his horse a chance once again as early as this weekend.

If the going is to Henderson’s liking, the horse will run in the two-mile Grade Two Betfair Exchange Chase.

Altior is also currently the 11/10 favourite to win the Queen Mother Champion Chase on day two of the Cheltenham Festival in March.

Altior has been sidelined since April, where he won the Celebration Chase at Sandown.

Racing fans will be eagerly watching the going at Newbury to see if the eight-year-old phenomenon will return to the course.
