Aidan O’Brien reveals Minding’s possible next outing
The Aidan O’Brien-trained Minding, one of the finest fillies in the world and winner of the QIPCO 1000 Guineas and Investec Oaks, is potentially in line for a tilt at the Group One Lockinge Stakes at Newbury later this month over a mile.
A facile winner of the Mooresbridge Stakes at Naas on Monday on her seasonal reappearance, the four-year-old daughter of Galileo is targeting her eighth Group One victory and Ballydoyle maestro O’Brien could potentially send the mare to Newbury for what could be a cracking renewal which might see Ribchester, second to Minding in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes on QIPCO Champion Day at Ascot, also run.
2000 Guineas victor Galileo Gold could also run whilst O’Brien has Alice Springs and Deauville among his seven entries for the contest.
Minding could not have made a better return to action at Naas under Ryan Moore in which she quickened up nicely after being off the track since October. O’Brien also revealed that his star could stay in Ireland and go for the Tattersalls Gold Cup.
O’Brien said after that victory:
We’re delighted to get her started back, it’s nice to get her going again. Ryan was very happy with her. She has the options of the Tattersalls (Gold Cup) or the Lockinge at Newbury.
